GUIDANCE FOR ICE OFFICERS WILL FOCUS RESOURCES
President Biden announces new guidelines for ICE officers. President Biden is bringing back the former President Obama idea of using US ICE prosecutorial power in a more discretionary fashion. President Trump had opened up US ICE official actions to include the apprehension and deportation and removal of any and all illegal aliens located inside the United States. Now, at least temporarily, President Biden will have ICE officers focus on primarily on those illegal aliens who are deemed a security threat or criminal problem. Hence, ICE will be now better able to focus its resources in a more concentrated manner on those who should be a priority for removal from the United States and not just a broad sweep that often included children, domestic abuse victims, crime witnesses, and other innocents who were unworthy of such draconian tactics. This is certainly a welcome policy change. Thank you, President Biden.
