The First Circuit Court of Appeals has just upheld that CBP-DHS right to confiscate cell phones at the airport and border port of entry WITHOUT A WARRANT
More outrageous conduct as CBP and DHS have been given the green light by the Federal Circuit Courts (in this case the 1st Circuit) to confiscate and search cell phone information upon arrival at US international airports. International travelers should be advised to seek legal counsel.
Therefore, this indiscriminate rule must be challenged in the courts and most likely will be in the near future. I will report on any further developments which I witness in this area.
